Business Process Management is one of the few courses from in bachelor of Information Science that I can truly say is useful. Besides business process modeling we were also taught how to model enterprise architectures.
I am currently working on a new business endeavor and my modeling skills came in handy for creating the supply chain diagram. Not that it’s difficult to create one or anything.
The supply chain diagram shows how the enterprise works together with business partners to produce the goods or services for the customers. You can look at it as a abstraction of the business model.
I’m not going to show the actual diagram I created, because that would ruin the surprise. But here is a clear example of a supply chain diagram of Center Parcs taken from the article of Koning et al.

This book is a tribute to the colourful Papiamentu language. A language spoken by only 260.000 people on three islands of the former Dutch Antilles; Bonaire, Curacao and Aruba. Although this language is only spoken in a small region, this collection of proverbs shows how by use of creativity, humour and love the Papiamentu language managed to develop and maintain itself.

Papiamentu is an essential part of the island culture. It is important not to lose the beauty and richness of a cultural heritage as recent political and social developments can change the existing culture. People who know their past can build towards a better future.
On the website you can buy the book or donate it to different schools on the ABC islands. It is definitely a book you need to have in your collection of Papiamentu literature.

We don’t think as much as we should, unless of course, when we think about it.
Some nights I stay up late just thinking about things. My thoughts are very random, but they usually revolve around life. From people I know, to things I still have to do or accomplish, everything from the cosmos and the beginning of time, to time itself.
Why do we think the way we think? When you think about it, when we think, it’s just chemical reactions and a constant creation of new neuron connection transmitting chemical signals. We think we have a greater purpose in life, but do we?
What’s the difference between you, an ape or a dolphin? The only difference is that we evolved faster. If you think about it we still have the same purpose, survive. We survive by reproducing, creating one better version of us with greater chance of survival. The monkey, the dolphin, the rat, the dog are all doing the same thing. Humans think we are smarter and better than the rest. But in essence we are doing the same thing as every living creature, we reproduce and then we die.
We have to think of ourselves not as humans above nature. We have to see ourselves as part of nature. One piece of the system. There’s more to the universe than just planet earth, than just you, or me. Think about it.
